Amstel-coconut-blue : for saxophone quartet Pascal Schumacher
Early 2015, the Amstel Saxophone Quartet contacted me to commission a piece that could take on tour with them to the Caribbean. The ideas they had were to have their own custom-made cocktail, European style infused with the spices and flavours of the Caribbean. I got into the flow as mixologist, decided on the name “Amstel Coconut Blue” and from there, the music almost created itself. It’s a combination of my own musical language with an island feel and like any good cocktail it should be fun refreshing and colorful. (Pascal Schumacher)
