ANNULE: Bach in the subways : mini-concerts

CETTE MANIFESTATION EST ANNULEE.

In 2010, Dale Henderson began frequent performances of the Bach Cello Suites in the subways of New York City. Convinced the decline in classical audiences was largely because many people never get a chance to experience this music live and up close, he believed Bach to be the perfect ambassador for his art form. He refused donated money and instead distributed postcards explaining his intentions. In 2011, he invited colleagues to join him voluntarily and without payment. In 2017, Bach in the Subways extended to 27 countries in North, Central and South America, Asia, Australia and Europe.

On the initiative of Rosch Mirkes (Ensemble AD Libitum) in collaboration with INECC Luxembourg, Bach in the Subways premiered in Luxembourg in 2018. The first edition with nine ensembles and four soloists, 15 concerts took place in the city centre at six different locations. This year, the audience will encounter "mini-concerts" on various locations in the city centre, such as the Lëtzebuerg City Museum, Villa Vauban, MNHA, Église St Alphonse, Église St Michel, Cercle Cité, neimënster and at the National Library.

A selection of Bach-related books will be available at the BnL on the 2nd floor in the music section.
