This volume pays tribute to the exceptional career of Luc Deitz, shaped by intellectual depth and an insatiable curiosity. Inspired by Scaliger’s maxim “Utinam essem bonus grammaticus …”, Luc Deitz devoted his life to exploring the texts, ideas, and traditions that have shaped our culture.

The contributions assembled here reflect the remarkable breadth of his interests. The section on Classical Scholarship from Antiquity to the Early Modern Period examines his work on Scaliger and Neo-Latin literature. The chapter Manuscripts and Libraries highlights his dedication to preserving and promoting Luxembourg’s manuscript heritage, while the section on Luxemburgensia explores the intellectual history of a region that has always been close to his heart.
