This very interesting documentary tells the true story of a refugee from Afghanistan who confronts his past in front of the camera, but as an animated character. Amin Nowabi (pseudonym) arrived as an unaccompanied minor in Denmark from Afghanistan. Now he is a successful academic and is about to get married to his long-time boyfriend. He shares the secret he has been hiding for over 20 years with the director, who is also a close friend. The format of the film is very unusual in that he sometimes lies on a couch, like in a shrink’s office and the animated parts are mixed with real footage from the Afghanistan of his youth. A very different and original way to tackle a very serious subject.
