Press release
The ebooks.lu digital book lending service has just expanded its offering through a partnership with the German platform Onleihe.
From now on, users will have access to a plethora of resources, with more than 2,000 e-books available free of charge. This new offering adds to an already impressive collection, which includes 5,000 digital books in French and 9,000 in English, as well as 2,000 audiobooks in different languages.
This partnership with Onleihe represents a significant step forward for readers of all ages. Unlike the previous supplier, Ciando, which will be deactivated in July, Onleihe offers an app with intuitive navigation, comparable to that already available for English-language e-books Libby by Overdrive. Both applications guarantee an easy and enjoyable lending and reading experience.
To use this new offer, all you need to do is register with one of the 13 partner libraries, download the Onleihe app onto your Android/iOS smartphone or tablet and log in with your reader account. Onleihe is integrated into Pocketbook and Tolino e-readers, so users no longer need to go through Adobe Digital Editions.
At the same time, the Overdrive website, a provider of e-books in English, is evolving and adopting the look and functionality of the Libby by Overdrive app. The main benefit of this update is the ability to synchronise loans and reading location between the website and the mobile app.
With ebooks.lu you can borrow e-books and audio books in French, German and English for free. The offer was launched in 2015 on the initiative of the Conseil supérieur des bibliothèques and the National Library. The implementation of this service and its management were entrusted to the Consortium Luxembourg division and the IT division of the National Library, which work in close cooperation with the participating public libraries.
