Press release
The National Library of Luxembourg is pleased to announce the launch of the National Bibliography of Luxembourg, accessible at bn.bnl.lu. This portal, the result of several years of work and development, is available to researchers, students and all enthusiasts of Luxembourgish culture. Documenting 40 years of intellectual production, the National Bibliography offers a valuable testimony to the cultural, economic, political and social history of Luxembourg while providing essential tools for research and historical analysis.
The National Bibliography lists all publications, both printed and digital, published in Luxembourg, as well as those released abroad relating to the Grand Duchy. It also includes publications by Luxembourgish authors living abroad. The references are classified thematically and users can browse through various subjects or search by title, author, year of publication or keywords. This portal also allows users to make reservation requests for documents available for home lending or for on-site consultation.
The first edition of the National Bibliography of Luxembourg was published in 1946, covering the period from 10 September 1944, to 31 December 1945. Thereafter, it was published annually until 2005 (reference year 2004), at which point the National Library discontinued the print edition in favour of a continuously updated digital version. On the portal bn.bnl.lu, users can access documents published from 1985 to the present. Publications prior to this date will be gradually added to complete this essential collection.
