Edwidge Danticat is a Haitian American novelist and short story writer nominated for the Nobel Prize of Literature 2022. Her work focuses mainly on the lives of woman and their relationships in the context of family and immigration.

Brother, I’m Dying is a family memoir by the Nobel Prize nominee. In this autobiographical narrative, that begins in the country of Haiti and ends in the United States Danticat talks about Haiti, her family’s emigration to the United States in search of the American dream and the problematic reality of one’s immigration status. The storyline features a series of flashbacks and is deeply influenced by the author’s fiction writing rendering it pleasant and capturing.
