Thousands of visitors attend Discovery Days at the National Library 225th anniversary of the BnL

The National Library of Luxembourg would like to thank the visitors who took part in the Discovery Days weekend on 30 September and 1 October 2023. 2,500 people celebrated the 225th anniversary of the BnL together and discovered its collections, services and facilities.

Our programme included a tour of our closed stacks and a Discovery Tour of the Reading Room. Visitors had the opportunity to meet our staff and engage in inspiring conversations about literature, art, music, culture and science.

For all the curious of the extraordinary, we prepared a special highlight: Exciting presentations of the BnL’s special collections and rare and precious documents that have shaped the country’s history.

Additionally, we offered presentations and workshops on topics such as iron gall ink preparation, bookbinding or manga illustration. Workshops on the Luxembourg Web Archive, our search engine a-z.lu, our selection of digital books ebooks.lu and our VOD offer rounded off our event programme.

Many new users signed up on the weekend. Joining the BnL is free of charge and the library card allows users to request and borrow books and access our numerous online resources.

The BnL thanks its many visitors for the positive feedback received during the open days and for helping the BnL team to transform its building into a busy and vibrant place open to all, promoting culture and helping to spread knowledge.
