Henry Keazor„Alfred Hitchcock Bezüge zur Bildenden Kunst sind gut dokumentiert: In der Tat hatte er in seiner Jugend nicht nur Zeichenunterricht genommen sowie Kurse in Kunstgeschichte belegt und war als Zeichner, Bühnenbildner und Architekt zum Film gekommen, sondern er sammelte auch selbst bis ins hohe Alter zeitgenössische Kunst. Was dem gegenüber bislang noch zu wenig in den Blick genommen wurde, sind die vielfachen Bezüge, die seine Filme auch zu den anderen Künsten – Literatur, Theater, Architektur, Musik, Tanz, aber auch (vielleicht wenig überraschend angesichts seiner imposanten Statur) zur Kochkunst – aufweisen. Sie zeigen die vielfältigen Interessen Hitchcocks und sein Bestreben, für seine Filme eine möglichst breite Palette an Anregungen zu jenem Gesamtkunstwerk zu verarbeiten.“

Cataloging the world : Paul Otlet and the birth of the information age
Alex Wright"In 1934, a Belgian entrepreneur named Paul Otlet sketched out plans for a worldwide network of computers--or "electric telescopes," as he called them -- that would allow people anywhere in the world to search and browse through millions of books, newspapers, photographs, films and sound recordings, all linked together in what he termed a réseau mondial: a "worldwide web." Today, Otlet and his visionary proto-Internet have been all but forgotten, thanks to a series of historical misfortunes -- not least of which involved the Nazis marching into Brussels and destroying most of his life's work. In the years since Otlet's death, however, the world has witnessed the emergence of a global network that has proved him right about the possibilities -- and the perils -- of networked information. In The Web that Wasn't, Alex Wright brings to light the forgotten genius of Paul Otlet, an introverted librarian who harbored a bookworm's dream to organize all the world's information. Recognizing the limitations of traditional libraries and archives, Otlet began to imagine a radically new way of organizing information, and undertook his life's great work: a universal bibliography of all the world's published knowledge that ultimately totaled more than 12 millionindividual entries. That effort eventually evolved into the Mundaneum, a vast "city of knowledge" that opened its doors to the public in 1921 to widespread attention. Like many ambitious dreams, however, Otlet's eventually faltered, a victim to technological constraints and political upheaval in Europe on the eve of World War II. "

Le roman de la renarde
Aquilino Ribeiro« Aquilino Ribeiro (1885-1963) – auteur incontournable de la littérature portugaise – a narré les aventures d’Attrape-Minon, la renarde «artificieuse, enjôleuse et ripailleuse». Lors de son exil à Paris, il rencontra Benjamin Rabier qui illustra avec saveur les renarderies de cette petite cousine portugaise de Renart. En faisant de son héros non plus un goupil mais une renarde, Aquilino propose comme ses prédécesseurs, à travers le règne des animaux, une peinture mordante et narquoise de la société, mais avec une touche de féminité ludique qui confère au récit une indubitable allégresse. Le récit bondit, sautille, ne s’attarde jamais: il distrait, fait rire, éduque. Pour animer son petit monde, Aquilino a fait appel à ses dons exceptionnels d’écrivain animalier. Et sans doute est-ce la langue exubérante, savoureuse et gourmande d’Aquilino qui représente son apport le plus remarquable au cycle de la gent renardière. Le résultat est un roman illustré pour petits et grands, unissant une des proses portugaises les plus riches et un des illustrateurs français les plus touchants et atemporels »

Dan Zollmann«Dan Zollmann est photographe et habite Anvers, l’une des trois principales villes (avec Londres et New-York) où habitent les descendants d’une secte juive d’Europe de l’Est: les Hassidim. Cette secte fut créée en Pologne au XVIIe siècle et prône un mode de vie alliant tradition, lecture et exégèse des livres saints. Ce milieu traditionnellement fermé a fait l’objet d’un superbe reportage que ne pouvait évidemment faire qu’un photographe juif et anversois.»
