Messen für Männerchor = Messes pour choeur d'hommes
Laurent Menager ; hrsg.: Alain Nitschké, Damien SagrilloDer bemerkenswerte Anteil an Kompositionen für Männerchor in Laurent Menagers Oeuvre geht auf seine Tätigkeit als Dirigent bei dem Luxemburger Gesangverein „Sang & Klang“ zurück. Der Chor war eine anerkannte Größe im kulturellen Leben der Stadt. Zwischen der Gründung des Männerchors Sang & Klang im Jahre 1857 und der Gründung des Kirchenchors im Stadtviertel Pfaffenthal im Jahre 1881 liegen 24 Jahre. Ab 1861 war Menager bereits als Organist an die dortige Pfarrkirche verpflichtet worden. Die musikalische Umrahmung kirchlicher Feiern übernahm in dieser Zeit der Sang & Klang. Im Gestus dem Vorbild seines Lehrers Ferdinand Hiller und der deutschen Romantik verhaftet, passte Menager die Messen hinsichtlich Tonumfang und gesangstechnischer Anforderungen dem Können der Sänger des Gesangvereins an, was die Kompositionen auch heute noch für ambitionierte Laienchöre empfiehlt.

Baselitz [Film]
von Evelyn Schels«Georg Baselitz, einer der international bekanntesten deutschen Künstler, lebt zurückgezogen in einem weiträumigen Schloss in Niedersachsen. Der Film begleitet den "Malerfürsten", beobachtet ihn bei der Arbeit in seiner Druckerei an einer neuen Grafikreihe. Auf dem Boden des Ateliers entstehen seine Bilder, aus dicken Baumstämmen schlägt er seine Skulpturen. Seine Frau Elke ist die erste und wichtigste Kritikerin seiner Arbeiten. "Elke" ist deshalb ein wichtiges, immer wieder aufgegriffenes Motiv im Werk des Georg Baselitz. Die Sujets seiner Bilder - Portraits, Akte, Landschaften - stellt er seit 1969 auf den Kopf. Eigentlich heisst Baselitz Hans Georg Kern, doch nach dem Vorbild der Renaissance-Künstler nennt er sich nach dem Dorf bei Dresden, in dem er geboren wurde. Aus dem Sohn des Dorflehrers wird ein Maler, dessen Werke zu den teuersten der Gegenwartskunst zählen. Baselitz umgibt sich mit seinen Schöpfungen, ist aber auch leidenschaftlicher Sammler von afrikanischen Skulpturen wie von Drucken des Manierismus. Baselitz spricht über seine Wurzeln und Bindungen, über die Krise in seiner Lebensmitte und die Freiheit der späten Schaffensphase. Eine deutsche Biographie voller Spannung und Widerspruch.»

Die Widmung = La dédicace
"Le Centre national de littérature héberge dans sa bibliothèque, mais aussi dans les diverses bibliothèques d’auteurs ainsi que dans les fonds d’archives anthumes et posthumes plus de 4000 exemplaires de livres dédicacés. L’exposition die Widmung – la dédicace ainsi que le catalogue qui l’accompagne mettent à l’honneur 37 volumes, pour la plupart extraits de cette collection. Ces ouvrages constituent des objets privés que des auteur(e)s ont fait circuler au gré de motifs divers. La dédicace quant à elle rend le livre qui la recèle unique et ouvre une fenêtre sur des instantanés de relations humaines et personnelles. Parfois, au-delà de son implication privée dans une dédicace, l’auteur ou le destinataire est lié à un paysage littéraire donné, que ce soit en tant qu’écrivain, éditeur ou encore critique. Dès lors, la dédicace dévoile non seulement un instantané de vie, mais aussi un pan d’histoire littéraire."

The recording features traditional and contemporary music, lyrics and poetry such as An Bonnán Buí, one of the oldest known Irish traditional songs. Seamus Heaney is widely recognized as one of the major poets of the 20th century. A native of Northern Ireland, Heaney was raised in County Derry, and later lived for many years in Dublin. He was the author of over 20 volumes of poetry and criticism, and edited several widely used anthologies. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1995 "for works of lyrical beauty and ethical depth, which exalt everyday miracles and the living past." Heaney taught at Harvard University (1985-2006) and served as the Oxford Professor of Poetry (1989-1994). He died in 2013.»

Ana works for an NGO that deals with refugees; one of her clients is Carlos, a Cuban exile who gets by selling black-market cigars and artworks. Carlos brings Mikel, just released from prison, to Ana’s house so that he can teach Gonzalo how to play chess — and possibly get him to start living again. Each of these characters faces an actual or emotional barrier they know they have to get past in order for their lives to go on in any meaningful way. Cuenca’s beautifully crafted screenplay, co-written with Alejandro Hernandez, deftly moves from story to story, creating at times parallels and ironies that we recognize long before his characters.»

Subtile, finement tissée, pleine de suspense, mais de manière détendue et lisse - cela pourrait décrire la musique très particulière du trio "Kalima". La chanteuse Sascha Ley a créé sa propre identité musicale. Le jeu de piano de Laia Genc est très original et incomparable. Anne Kaftan au sax et à clarinette basse met sa propre touche. La plupart des titres de ce CD, écrit par Sascha Ley et Laia Genc, sont extrêmement complexes. Les oreilles attentives feront de nouvelles découvertes à chaque écoute, ce qui vaut le coup à chaque fois.»

Tullio Forgiarini lauréat du Prix de littérature de l'Union européenne 2013
"L'auteur luxembourgeois Tullio Forgiarini est un des douze lauréats du Prix de littérature de l'Union européenne 2013, dont les noms ont été révélés le 26 septembre 2013. Son roman "Amok-Eng Lëtzbuerger Liebeschronik", a convaincu le jury. Les lauréats se verront remettre leur prix lors de la cérémonie de gala qui se déroulera à Bruxelles, le 26 Novembre 2013, en présence de la Commissaire Androulla Vassiliou et de personnalités du monde de la littérature, de la culture et de la politique. Ils recevront tous la somme de 5.000 euros et leurs oeuvres seront prioritaires pour l’obtention d’une subvention de l’UE destinée à financer la traduction de son livre dans les autres langues européennes. Tullio Forgiarini est né en 1966 à Luxembourg d'un père Italien et d'une mère luxembourgeoise. Il est auteur, mais aussi professeur de lycée. Son oeuvre, souvent décrite comme sombre, est inspirée des polars Série noire. Amok est l'histoire violente d'un adolescent à la recherche de l'amour, de reconnaissance et d'une place dans la société. Par ailleurs, le réalisateur luxembourgeois Donato Rotunno a adapté le livre, ensemble avec l'auteur. Son film intitulé "Ouni d'Hänn-Sans les mains" devrait sortir en 2014."

Darbareye Elly [Film] = A propos d'Elly
écrit et réal. par Asghar Farhadi«Un groupe d'amis étudiants passe des vacances dans une vaste demeure au bord de la mer Caspienne. Sepideh, qui s'est occupée de l'organisation, a décidé d'inviter Elly, en espérant que celle-ci ne soit pas indifférente au charme de son ami Ahmad, qui sort tout juste d'une rupture. Dans un premier temps, on croit reconnaître leurs homologues occidentaux dans le comportement libre et drôle de ces jeunes Iraniens. Le temps de prendre en compte quelques particularités - les foulards qui couvrent la tête des femmes, les chansons populaires en farsi qui remplacent les tubes pop - et l'on est pris au piège de ce film troublant, qui met la trame d'un divertissement classique à l'épreuve des dures contraintes du monde, tel qu'il s'est construit en Iran ces trente dernières années.»

La piel que habito [Film]
dirigida por Pedro Almodóvar« Un thriller fantastique inattendu, loin des habituels mélos du réalisateur espagnol. Une constante cependant: la notion d’identité sexuelle est encore une fois une thématique forte du film, abordée sous un angle plus sordide que jamais… Résultat : une œuvre dérangeante, dans laquelle Antonio Banderas brille en chirurgien perturbé à plus d’un titre. Une sacrée performance au service d’une histoire de dingue, dont Almodóvar distille les clés au compte-goutte, faisant des deux premiers tiers du film un modèle d’orchestration de rythme, d’une limpidité exemplaire. La Piel que habito est une œuvre très personnelle, dans laquelle Almodóvar parvient même à dénicher la digne héritière de Penelope Cruz en la personne d’Elena Anaya, sublime Vera. Du grand cinéma. »

La teta asustada [Film] = Fausta
dir. y guión Claudia Llosa« Fausta, très belle jeune femme péruvienne, est atteinte du syndrome "la teta asustada", qu'on nomme au Pérou "le lait de la douleur". Elle vit en effet dans la peur, une peur qui a été transmise par sa mère, qui vient de mourir. A la mort de sa mère, Fausta devra affronter ses peurs pour pouvoir renaître...L’oncle qui les héberge exige de Fausta qu’elle parte enterrer sa mère au village natal et finance les funérailles. La jeune femme, introvertie et sauvage, devient employée de maison chez une célèbre concertiste, à qui elle va redonner l’inspiration en lui chantant des poèmes en quechua. Cette rencontre est pour Fausta un premier pas vers sa libération. »
