entretien avec Bernard Pivot] ; réal. Nicolas Ribowski« Bernard Pivot n'avait jamais eu l'occasion de consacrer une émission entière à Michel Tournier. Le 9 septembre 2005, il se rend à Choisel, dans le presbytère qu'habite l'écrivain, et tous deux conversent pendant près de deux heures. L'écrivain répond aux questions indiscrètes du journaliste avec sa liberté habituelle et un art malicieux de l'anecdote, en commençant par lui présenter le presbytère où il habite depuis 50 ans, lui expliquant pourquoi il aime ce type de maison. «L'église est dans le jardin ce qui est fondamental pour moi. Je vis au rythme des cloches. C'est un environnement propre à l'écriture et à la lecture.» L'auteur du Roi des Aulnes évoque aussi sa grande passion pour la philosophie, préparée par ses cours d'instruction religieuse où il spéculait sur Dieu et l'immortalité de l'âme. «Quand on est enfant, la religion c'est la philosophie», dit-il, se rappelant la volupté intellectuelle que c'était de découvrir de nouveaux systèmes de pensée. Il évoque Bachelard qui fut l'un de ses maîtres, son ami Deleuze, ses relations avec Mitterrand. Littérature, métaphysique, musique… »

Salvatore Giuliano
regia Francesco Rosi«Evocation de la vie du célèbre bandit, si cher au coeur des Italiens, trouvé mort un matin d'été de 1950 dans la cour d'une maison d'une petite ville de Sicile. «Mon vrai sujet c'est un pays malheureux, opprimé, égaré et révolté. Je n'entends ni exalter, ni accabler Giuliano. Je veux montrer qu'il fut le fruit de sa terre, des conditions sociales et politiques des années quarante.» Le destin tragique du « Robin des bois sicilien » aurait pu fournir la matière d'un biopic. Francesco Rosi a préféré le transformer en grand film politique. De Giuliano, on ne verra d'ailleurs qu'une silhouette fugitive et, surtout, le cadavre. C'est à partir de ce corps criblé de balles que Rosi élargit son regard à la Sicile tout entière, pour enquêter sur la misère des paysans, les manipulations politiques, les liens troubles entre pouvoir légal, police et mafia. Le tournage sur les lieux mêmes des crimes de Giuliano, avec de nombreux comédiens recrutés sur place, contribue à l'authenticité de ce récit en apparence documentaire, mais réalisé avec les armes de la fiction : un scénario qui refuse tout didactisme, une mise en scène rigoureuse qui ose l'émotion et le spectaculaire. Impressionnant de bout en bout.»
