Buch und Regie Christian Petzold«Ärztin Barbara hat einen Ausreiseantrag aus der DDR gestellt, während ihr Geliebter Jörg im Westen ihre Flucht vorbereitet. Als Folge des Gesuchs wird Barbara von Berlin in ein Provinzkrankenhaus strafversetzt, wo sie unter ihrem neuen Chef Andre in der Kinderchirurgie arbeitet. Der Mann verwirrt sie - mit seiner Freundlichkeit, seiner Fürsorge, seinem Verständnis. Barbara beginnt den Boden unter den Füßen zu verlieren. Sie ist sich über nichts mehr im Klaren: ihre Flucht, ihre Liebe, ihre Pläne. Wie wohl viele Menschen in der damaligen DDR - zumal solche, die ihr Missfallen gegen das "Paradies der Werktätigen" so offen zum Ausdruck gebracht hatten wie sie - ist Barbara es gewohnt, ständig misstrauisch beobachtet zu werden. Sie hat sich damit arrangiert, begegnet den Menschen mit (berechtigtem) Misstrauen und lebt allein in der Hoffnung, dass es ihrem westdeutschen Geliebten Jörg (Mark Waschke) irgendwie gelingen wird, ihre Flucht zu arrangieren. So lange muss aber das Leben weitergehen, muss sie den Anschein von Normalität erwecken.»

In einem verwilderten ehemaligen Safaripark, hermetisch von der übrigen Welt abgeschottet, leben 40 Schimpansen aus dem ehemaligen Versuchslabor des Pharmakonzerns Immuno. Infiziert mit HIV- und Hepatitisviren. Traumatisiert, verstört, hochaggressiv. Sie hassen Menschen und haben allen Grund dazu. Heute leiten die Pflegerinnen ein weltweit einzigartiges Resozialisierungsprojekt für traumatisierte Primaten und begleiten deren mühevollen Weg aus der lebenslänglichen Isolation hin zu einem Leben in artgerechten Gruppen.»

Georgia O'Keeffe [Film]
written by Michael Cristofer ; directed by Bob Balaban«Lifetime's biopic on Georgia O'Keeffe is a lot like one of that great artist's paintings: quiet and peaceful at first, but explosive if you stick with it.The first half of the film revolves around Georgia's life in New York City, where she initially captured the eye of the art community. It starts in 1916 when Georgia (Joan Allen) meets the older Alfred Stieglitz (Jeremy Irons), a talented photographer, who was showcasing some of her drawings at his gallery in New York. We see how Georgia's blunt honesty fascinated the married Stieglitz who would offer her a place to live in the city and not only lead to an affair but the destruction of his marriage and then their own marriage. His wandering eye lead to problems of their own and her move to Mexico where the naturally beauty of the surroundings captured her imagination. Georgia spends most of her remaining life there and this state had an even greater impact on her artwork. The director does do a great job in changing the tone of the film and in an instant, Georgia's world is brighter. She awakes to wide, open country and, to a small degree, we can see that New Mexico was rejuvenating for her. And then there are the performances with Joan Allen and Jeremy Irons doing a fantastic job of making these characters feel real.»

Mones com la Becky [Film] = Monkeys Like Becky
Joaquín Jordá y Núria Villazán«Documentary in two mixed parts. One of the parts is about the portuguese neurophysiologist Antonio Egas Moniz, Nobel prize for Medicine in 1949, who was one of the first (or even the first) scientist who operated on schizophrenic patients using the technic called lobotomy. The other part is about the day by day life of schizophrenic people nowadays: their behaviours, their relationships, their treatments for the illness. The title of the movie is a reference to a chimpanzee used to experiment for a better knowledge of the schizophrenia. In the present the lobotomy is not used, dued to its lack of operative results in most of the cases and the appearence of very effective new drugs (in the 70's) to control the symptoms and disturb behaviours caused by the mental illness.»
