Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi [Film] = Chihiros Reise ins Zauberland
Drehbuch und Regie Hayao Miyazaki«Hayao Miyazakis Chihiros Reise ins Zauberland, der erfolgreichste Film des japanischen Kinos, ist ein faszinierendes Beispiel der Fähigkeit von Trickfilmen, Fantasiewelten zu zaubern. Es gelingt ihr, und während sie arbeitet, sorgen ihre bislang ungenutzten Fähigkeiten dafür, dass sie von der Habsucht, die Yubabas Mini-Imperium erfüllt, nicht angesteckt wird. In einer Reihe fantastischer Abenteuer reinigt sie einen von menschlicher Umweltverschmutzung verseuchten Flussgott, rettet den geheimnisvollen No-Face und freundet sich mit Yubabas liebenswürdiger Zwillingsschwester Zeniba an. Die Entschlossenheit, der Mut und die Liebe, die Chihiro in sich entdeckt, ermöglichen es ihr, Haku zu helfen und ihre Eltern zu retten. Murderball [Film]
dir. by Henry Alex Rubin, Dana Adam Shapiro"More than merely a sports documentary or an inspirational profile of triumph over adversity, Murderball offers a refreshing and progressive attitude toward disability while telling unforgettable stories about uniquely admirable people. It's ostensibly a film about quadriplegic rugby (or "Murderball," as it was formerly known), in which players with at least some loss of physical function in all four limbs navigate modified wheelchairs in a hardcore, full-contact sport that takes them all the way to the Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece, in 2004. But as we get to know paralyzed or amputee players on Team USA like Andy Cohn, Scott Hogsett, Bob Lujano and charismatic team spokesman Mark Zupan, we come to understand that quad rugby is a saving grace for these determined competitors, who battle Team Canada coach (and former Team USA superstar) Joe Soares en route to the climactic contest in Athens. Simply put, Murderball is the best film to date about living with a severe disability, but codirectors Henry Alex Rubin and Dana Adam Shapiro avoid the sappy, inspirational sentiment that hampers nearly all mainstream films involving disability. By the time this blazing 85-minute film reaches its emotional conclusion, the issue of disability is almost irrelevant."

[al.] ; trad. du japonais par Joan Titus-Carmel«Le haiku, poème traditionnel japonais, “sorte de balafre légère tracée dans le temps”, comme dit Roland Barthes, réussit à exprimer en peu de mots ce que l’encre suscite en quelques traits de pinceau dans la calligraphie ou la peinture: un moment privilégié, un instant de lumière, un éveil. L’un et l’autre naissent d’un même souffle, d’un même élan, au terme d’un intense recueillement. Cette prosodie singulière de l’impair remonte à la nuit des temps et chaque poème ainsi libellé par de véritables artistes issus d’écoles du genre, évoque un événement insignifiant au premier chef mais cependant témoin d’une harmonie délicate et fugitive des instants de la vie quotidienne. «Après la guerre, un certain nombre de soldats japonais ont préféré ne pas rentrer au pays. Imamura part à leur recherche en Malaisie puis en Thaïlande afin de comprendre pourquoi ils ont préféré rester sur place, comment ils ont vécu leur "après-guerre", ce qu'ils pensent de leur patrie. Shôhei Imamura (1926-2006), l'enfant terrible de la Nouvelle Vague japonaise, tourne alors une série de films sur les citoyens japonais abandonnés, avec la volonté d'aller au-delà de l'histoire officielle. Bonus: "Karayuki san" (="Ces dames qui vont au loin", 1971, 72 min.): un documentaire de Shohei Imamura sur "l'exportation" de prostituées au début du XXe siècle. »

Tony Takitani [Film]

Seine Mutter starb wenige Tage nach seiner Geburt und sein Vater verbrachte mehr Zeit mit seiner Jazzband als mit seinem Sohn. Einsamkeit schien für Tony ein natürlicher Zustand zu sein. Sein Leben verändert sich jedoch grundlegend, als er sich in die attraktive Eiko verliebt, die er wenig später heiratet. Zum ersten Mal erlebt Tony das Glück von Nähe und Geborgenheit. Dies wird allerdings durch Eikos exzessive Leidenschaft für Designer-Klamotten getrübt. Als sich ein ganzer Raum mit den teuren Kleidungsstücken füllt, bittet Tony seine junge Frau, ihre Einkäufe einzuschränken. Eiko stimmt ihm zu, doch keiner ahnt, welche dramatischen Folgen diese Entscheidung haben wird... Wer die literarische Vorlage und andere Erzählungen Murakamis kennt, weiß, wie filmisch dieser Autor erzählt. Ganz offen gesteht er, der einst an der Filmhochschule studierte, wie sehr er vom Kino beeinflusst ist. Jun Ichikawa gelingt dies in diesem allerersten Versuch, Murakami zu verfilmen, hervorragend. Ein Film, der bezaubert, der wie Tonys Lieblingsmusik, der aus dem Hintergrund erklingende Piano-Jazz, leicht, wie improvisiert wirkt und dabei überaus genau gestaltet ist. Obschon der Regisseur den Erzählton der Vorlage beibehält, und vieles aus dem Off beschrieben wird, ist Tony Takitani ein visueller Film. Nie wird es »literarisch«, es ist immer ganz Kino. Das ist zuallererst einer glänzenden Kamera zu verdanken, die ständig im Bewegung bleibt, den Flow der Existenz und die Unübersichtlichkeit, zugleich die Verlassenheit, die Tony Takitanis Dasein prägen, ins Visuelle fasst.»

Cinema Jenin [Film]
Regie Marcus Vetter ; Buch Aleksei Bakri, Marcus Vetter«Das in den 1960er Jahren erbaute Kino in Dschenin galt als eines der größten und bedeutendsten in Palästina, bis der Kinobetrieb mit dem Ausbruch der ersten Intifada 1987 eingestellt wurde. Vetter und Khatib gründeten zusammen mit dem zukünftigen Kino-Manager Fakhri Hamad den Verein "Cinema Jenin". Das Projekt wurde zu einer Reise durch die Institutionen, gegen Widerstände, aber auch mit viel internationaler Unterstützung. Das Ziel war und ist: ein Kino für den Frieden. Im August 2010 wurde es wiedereröffnet.»

Deux femmes, la mère et sa belle-fille, appauvries, isolées et désespérées, tentent de survivre au coeur d'un marécage stérile. Agressant les soldats blessés, perdus ou en déroute qui traversent le marécage, elles les tuent pour leur prendre leurs biens et les revendre à un receleur en échange d'un peu de nourriture. Les cadavres de leurs victimes sont jetés dans une caverne, "le trou". Un jour, un voisin dépenaillé nommé Hachi se présente chez elles : affirmant avoir assisté à la mort de leur mari et fils, il devient bientôt l'amantde la jeune veuve, en dépit de l'opposition de la belle-mère. Celle-ci décide alors de tenter par tous les moyens d'empêcher la jeune femme d'aller rendre visite à Hachi... La situation va dès lors se dégrader...»

Lewis and writer Philip Yordan is a near-classic. Cornel Wilde plays police detective Leonard Diamond, a lonely, hard-bitten man who considers it his personal duty to bring down the local gangster boss who's known as Mr. Brown (Richard Conte). Diamond's boss (Robert Middleton) tries to convince Diamond to veer away from his obsession, which is costing the police department a lot of money, but Diamond is implacable. He's come to see the destruction of Brown as his duty, a job only he can accomplish. What makes The Big Combo work so well is the way the characters defy easy expectations and categorization. First impressions are rarely lasting ones and as the film progresses, more sides to the characters are revealed. The film crafts some astounding visual shots. Cinematographer John Alton uses lighting and shadows for more than just the atmosphere, but as a way to draw emphasis and obscure information.»

The Tibet Museum is the youngest museum in China and also Tibet's first museum equipped with modern facilities. The architecture of the museum is a perfect blending of traditional Tibetan style and modern technologies. There is a large collection of antiques, handicraft and the like which have strong Tibetan characteristics. Visitors can see almost every aspect of the history, culture, religion, art and people's life in Tibet. "Tibet archive": there are more than 3 million volumes of dossiers in the Tibet Archive. These dossiers, spanning 700 years since the Yuan Dynasty, cover politics, economics, science and institutions. The archives are primarily in Tibetan and also in Manchu, Mongolian, Chinese, English and Russian. "Tibet University": over the past centuries, culture and education were monopolized by lamaseries in Tibet. Over the last decades, the education in Tibet has embarked on the road towards modernization. Tibet University is the university mainly orientated to training teachers. This program looks at the university as an epitome of higher education in Tibet.
