A ses couleurs d’abord : pastelles, passées, comme sorties d’un vieux livre ou d’un magazine de cinéma des années 50. Il faut dire que l’artiste use d’une technique bien particulière, à laquelle il reste toujours fidèle : il fait des photographies argentiques en noir et blanc et colorie ensuite chaque tirage à la main, ce qui les situe entre photo et peinture et leur donne un caractère unique (à l’instar de Pierre et Gilles, sauf que Youssef Nabil tire en plusieurs exemplaires et utilise la couleur de manière plus douce). C’est pour rendre hommage à l’esthétique qui a baigné son enfance que l’artiste a recours à cette technique, qu’il a apprise auprès des derniers coloristes et retoucheurs de photos : il est et a grandi en Egypte et ses premières années ont été marquées par les stars flamboyantes du cinéma de son pays."

In the 1930s, Japanese photography evolved in two very directions: one toward a documentary style, the other favouring an experimental, or avant-garde, approach strongly influence by Western Surrealism. This book explores these two divergent paths through the work of two remarkable figures: Hiroshi Hamaya and Kansuke Yamamoto. Hiroshi Hamaya (1915-1999) was born and raised in Tokyo and, after an initial period of creative experimentation, turned his attention to recording traditional life and culture. He went on to record cultural changes in China, political protests in Japan, and landscapes around the world. Kansuke Yamamoto (1914-1987) became fascinated by the innovative approaches in art and literature exemplified by Western artists such as Man Ray and Magritte. He promoted Surrealist and avant-garde ideas in Japan through his poetry, paintings, sculptures, and photography."

Alice Munro : Prix Nobel de littérature 2013
«Le prix Nobel de littérature 2013 a été décerné à la femme de lettres canadienne Alice Munro, décrite comme "la maîtresse de la nouvelle contemporaine". "Alice Munro est surtout connue comme auteure de nouvelles mais elle apporte autant de profondeur, de sagesse et de précision dans chaque histoire comme le font la plupart des romanciers dans toute leur oeuvre", justifiait le jury pour lui accorder ce prix. "Lire Alice Munro c'est à chaque fois apprendre quelque chose auquel vous n'aviez pas pensé avant". Tullio Forgiarini lauréat du Prix de littérature de l'Union européenne 2013
"L'auteur luxembourgeois Tullio Forgiarini est un des douze lauréats du Prix de littérature de l'Union européenne 2013, dont les noms ont été révélés le 26 septembre 2013. Son roman "Amok-Eng Lëtzbuerger Liebeschronik", a convaincu le jury. Les lauréats se verront remettre leur prix lors de la cérémonie de gala qui se déroulera à Bruxelles, le 26 Novembre 2013, en présence de la Commissaire Androulla Vassiliou et de personnalités du monde de la littérature, de la culture et de la politique. Ils recevront tous la somme de 5.000 euros et leurs oeuvres seront prioritaires pour l’obtention d’une subvention de l’UE destinée à financer la traduction de son livre dans les autres langues européennes. Tullio Forgiarini est né en 1966 à Luxembourg d'un père Italien et d'une mère luxembourgeoise. Il est auteur, mais aussi professeur de lycée. Son oeuvre, souvent décrite comme sombre, est inspirée des polars Série noire. Amok est l'histoire violente d'un adolescent à la recherche de l'amour, de reconnaissance et d'une place dans la société. Par ailleurs, le réalisateur luxembourgeois Donato Rotunno a adapté le livre, ensemble avec l'auteur. Son film intitulé "Ouni d'Hänn-Sans les mains" devrait sortir en 2014."

Alejandro Chaskielberg«The monograph focuses on work of Argentinian photographer Alejandro Chaskielberg in the remote Paraná River Delta region of Argentina, where he has lived since 2007. Departing from his previous experience as a photojournalist, Chaskielberg decided to reenact, rather than simply document, aspects of daily life in the Delta, which for most of its population consists of fishing, farming, and traveling the river. He met locals randomly, on piers and in general stores; and eventually found several people willing to participate in his elaborate, hours-long shoots, always executed in the middle of the night. Taking up to ten-minute-long exposures and using a combination of strobes, flashlights, lanterns, and the moon as his only light sources, Chaskielberg's resulting images place his subjects in beautifully lush, almost surreal dramatizations of typical life on the Delta. Alejandro Chaskielberg (b. 1977) is Director of Photography from the Argentina’s National Film and Audiovisual Art Institute. He began his career as a photojournalist, working in local newspapers and magazines and later writing and directing documentaries for television. Alejandro is the winner of the 2011 L’Iris d’Or - Best Photographer of the Year at the Sony World Photo Awards. Also in 2011 he received the POYI – Latin America Pictures of the Year as the best Latin American Portrait.»
