Un riche célibataire installé sur son île en Indonésie, l'employée d'un magasin de vêtements de Luxembourg qui a fondé une ONG au Niger, une famille de paysans de Berchem installée au Canada, l'héritier d'une famille de commerçants aujourd'hui guide touristique à Jérusalem. Et un médecin sudafricain qui lui est venu s'installer au Grand-Duché.

    Brown joined the Sea Shepard Society in 1982 and now, 30 years later, he has put together highlights from the group’s history of “aggressive non-violence.” What the Society does is take direct action to stop those who maim and murder helpless and voiceless marine creatures. Paul Watson, a Canadian proponent of biocentrism, started out at Greenpeace but left when he tired of what he perceived as the organization’s ineffectualness. He convinced the head of the British Fund for Animals to pay for his first ship, the Sea Shepherd, in 1978 and began hunting illegal hunters.

    Gerhard Richter gehört seit nahezu fünf Jahrzehnten zu den international bedeutendsten Künstlern. Der Filmemacherin Corinna Belz öffnete der medienscheue Maler sein Atelier, wo er im Sommer 2009 an einer Serie großer abstrakter Bilder arbeitete. "Gerhard Richter Painting" gewährt einmalige Einblicke in die Entstehung dieser Bilder und die Arbeit des Künstlers. "Malen ist eine andere Form des Denkens" hat Richter schon früh gesagt. Der Film nimmt diese Prämisse ernst. In hoch konzentrierten Einstellungen lässt er uns an einem sehr persönlichen, spannungsgeladenen Schaffensprozess teilhaben. Es ist ein ruhiger, dabei höchst aufgeladener Prozess von Aktion und Reflexion, angetrieben von jahrelanger Erfahrung und geprägt von intensiver physischer Präsenz. Wir sehen, wie Richter malt, wie er seine Bilder betrachtet und beurteilt, wie er mit ihnen kommuniziert, wie er überlegt, abwartet, verwirft, überarbeitet, manchmal auch zerstört und neu beginnt. Indem wir schauend daran teilnehmen, lässt uns Corinna Belz in ihrem klugen, einfühlsamen Film den vielschichtigen Vorgängen künstlerischen Schaffens näher kommen. Der Blick auf die Leinwand erweitert und verändert sich. Die Bilder selbst werden zu Protagonisten. Eine andere Form des Denkens setzt sein. "Gerhard Richter Painting" ist das eindringliche Porträt eines Künstlers bei der Arbeit - und ein faszinierender Film über das Sehen selbst.

    "Karen Knorr’s past work from the 1980’s onwards took as its theme the ideas of power that underlie cultural heritage, playfully challenging the underlying assumptions of fine art collections in academies and museums in Europe through photography and video. Since 2008 her work has taken a new turn and focused its gaze on the upper caste culture of the Rajput in India and its relationship to the "other" through the use of photography, video and performance. Live animals are inserted into the architectural sites, fusing high resolution digital with analogue photography. Animals photographed in sanctuaries, zoos and cities inhabit palaces, mausoleums and holy sites, interrogating Indian cultural heritage and rigid hierarchies. "
