From May 4 2020 onwards, the National Library of Luxembourg will once again enable home loan. Users will be able to borrow up to three books simultaneously via www.a-z.lu and the NLL will send the ordered documents by post to the homes of the people concerned. In order to guarantee the smooth mailing of borrowed documents, the BnL asks its users to check the validity of their contact details in their reader's account. This can be accessed via www.a-z.lu.
On-site collection of reserved documents is not yet permitted.
For logistical reasons, it will not be possible to send books weighing more than 2kg.
The relaunch of home loans is part of a strategy of progressive deconfinement, the stages of which are defined in accordance with government decisions and in respect of health barrier gestures.
During the exceptional closure of the BnL registration requests can be made via e-mail.
Who can register?
Any person aged at least 14 years and residing in Luxembourg or in the neighbouring regions.

When filling in the registration form, make sure you provide a correct e-mail address as your reader's ID and a link to reset your password will be sent to the e-mail address indicated in the form.
Validity of registration
3 months: provisional registration for non-electronically signed forms
2 years: for electronically signed forms (Luxtrust certificate)

How to confirm your provisional registration?
In order to confirm your provisional registration you must sign the registration form either electronically or in person at the reception desk after the reopening of the BnL.
The due date of all outstanding loans has been automatically extended until 01/07/2020.

Borrowed documents can be returned via our automatic return device outside the BnL building, 24 hours a day. In addition, you have the possibility to deposit non-returnable works via automatic return (out-of-format works, works on international loan) in the return box located in the BnL entrance door lock. This return box is accessible from 8am-8pm.
For the moment it is still possible to order scientific articles through the International Loan service. However, it is no longer possible to submit requests for book orders.
Please note that all appointments for consultation of Special Collections are cancelled.
